Is There any Extension Possible for GSA Schedule?

Introduction: Before we start the discussion, let us know what is a GSA Schedule? GSA or the General Services Administration is a government agency, established in 1949. The GSA, has been evolved for over the years and is tasked with managing government buildings, real estate, providing product and service procurement support, developing polices and regulations.

The GSA which has two major services – The Public Building Services (PBS) and the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS). The main area of responsibility of the GSA is to manage, negotiate contracts with pending GSA Schedule contract holders. This method will allow the authorized federal buyers to order the product/service at a pre-negotiated prices and terms.

So now that we have got the idea of what is a GSA Schedule? Let’s discuss about its extension –

GSA Schedule contract will expire it’s validity within 20-year period contract. When the validity is over, one can chose “streamlined acquisition” or “option extension.” But what will be the suitable action to take for extension in the year 2021? Generally, when your Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contract, is about to over, you have to establish a brand-new contract which reflects the current status of your contract. You basically need to extend your contract, when you are approaching the end of five-year period on your GSA Contract.

The requirements for extension: -

  • Government Registration – Please ensure that your SAM registration is up to date and having the NAICS codes in proper order. It should not expire before or during your contract extension.

  • Mass Modifications –Please ensure that you have checked the Mass Mod portal and have accepted all mass mods related things which are associated with your GSA Schedule number.

  • GSA Advantage! Price List – The price list posted on GSA Advantage! Should have the most recent modification to your contract.

  • Business size designation - If you are categorized as a small business, still you must show your eligibility and make sure even being small business size standard, you have NAICS code.
